Your Trip on the Zoo Choo

{Hover} the pictures.

Buy your tokens or tickets at the Whiskers Gift Shop. They are $2 each. The train station entrance is located near the Zoo Exit gate. Follow the yellow arrows to the departure gate. The Conductor greets prospective passengers and inquires about their intent to ride the train. The train leaves the station about every 15 minutes. The bell rings to indicate that the train is ready to receive passengers.

The Conductor begins the boarding process with the "All Aboard!"  Give your tickets to the Conductor as you board the train. Plenty of time is allowed for final seat selection. No one is late or left behind. If the Conductor sees you, everyone on the train will gladly wait! We call the kids in the back, "Tiger food!"

Safety First: Please remain seated while the train is in motion.

The ride starts very smoothly with a "Toot, toot" {Hit F5 to hear it.}. Acceleration is styled to provide a smooth simulation of the operation of a full-scale passenger train. We don't spill anyone's Kool-Aid! The full speed of five miles per hour is achieved before the first turn. The train goes around the track layout twice and returns to the same place within about five minutes. The tunnel isn't too dark, but check the picture below to see what's going on in the back anyway!

At the end of the ride, the very gentle deceleration schedule is also reminiscent of a real passenger train. The ride is comfortable and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Sufficient time and assistance needed by passengers is provided. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the ride and wave at everyone in the view of the train. Smiles abound!

If you have a younger child with you, ride the Zoo Choo first and last. They will enjoy the animals more and your zoo experience will be better. Please come back another time.

Hoboes are people who try to ride the train for free! The small pictures on this page are hobo symbols. They are genuine designs that were used by hoboes to tell others about the places they visited. Hover a picture to see the meaning of each symbol.
