The Zoo Choo
The Zoo Choo is a miniature (16 inch gauge) G-16 zoo train at Mill Mountain Zoo in Roanoke, Virginia. Every 15 minutes it gives children, and the adults that they own, a ride around a 1010 foot oval track. The ride goes around the zoo twice and takes a little over 5 minutes. The children, and everyone else, enjoy the ride. There is a tunnel and some of the zoo animals can be seen. The train has been in operation since 1952 and is the original train except that it has received an accurate, historical paint job and a new 20 hp gasoline motor. Look at the train from a kid's point of view... its a big deal! Sometimes this train goes to Hawaii and sometimes it goes to the North Pole.
