Mason Ray Grant

Address: Culver Oregon, 97734

  Homestead Property:

Mason Grant’s property is very interesting. It contains a sand pit, a historical metal dump, a water well, a cistern, organic soil, a rock ledge, many special rock piles, a beautiful rose bush, beautiful views to the north and west and many memories.

Visible here is the water supply cistern. The house was in the near distance on the right of the road. A barn was a little farther away on the left. Mt. Hood can be seen in the far distance.

The property is located on the old, old, highway midway between Madras and Prineville.

The Rose Bush at the Homestead:
"Mason was the finest man that ever walked the face of the earth." -- Gladys Grant.

Mason and Bessie raised seven children here.

The native meadowlarks can be heard most mornings. Memories of summer days abound!

Looking to the northeast. The property ends where the Juniper trees can be seen in the distance.

Close up:

John Huston Grant was the father of Mason Ray Grant. John resided about 4 miles to the south. He was a Baptist preacher and was killed at home by lightning.

This type of rose is common throughout the area.
